The focus should be on the person who is giving the money, not on the person receiving it. The issue is private property rights. If I am able to accumulate any amount of wealth after taxes, then I own it. I can give it to anyone I choose without governmental interference. Anything less is not freedom!
Since the focus is on property rights, ANY governmental redistribution of wealth is a violation of the property rights of the person who earned the money. Robbing Peter to pay Paul violates Peter’s property rights and is therefore immoral. Peter can rightly say to the government, “it’s not yours to give.”
